Gates Foundation Gives $30 Mil To Charter Schools
(AP) SEATTLE The Gates Foundation is giving $30-million to establish 200 charter schools in low income areas of major cities.The money will go through the NewSchools Venture Fund of San Francisco to non-profit charter management organizations.The schools could serve as many as 100-thousand students.The foundation says it supports high quality school options for low-income and minority students to increase high school graduation rates and readiness for college.
