    ROOT INC AND WASHINGTON, DC CHAPTER OF NATIONAL ORGANIZATION OF BLACK LAW ENFORCEMENT EXECUTIVES (NOBLE) , SPONSOR ANACOSTIA HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS GOVERNMENT CLASS FIELD TRIP TO CONGRESSIONAL BLACK CAUCUS ACTIVITIES

    Who: ROOT, the National Organization of Black Law Enforcement Executives, and Anacostia High School.

    What: Annual Congressional Black Caucus

    Where: Washington Convention Center

    Why: Washington, DC, has been declared a state of emergency due to increased incidents of violence and homicide. ROOT, with the support of the office of the Deputy Mayor for Children, Youth, Families, and Elders, is doing a series of activities designed to be proactive in reducing incidents of violence by and among our youth. Anacostia High School is a school in Southeast Washington that has been in the center of violent episodes in preceding years, including the highly publicized murder of Devin Fowlkes in 2004. Two separate classes will be picked up by bus and taken to the convention center where they will see firsthand workshops and seminars sponsored by CBC and be taken by CBC staffers to various events.

    When: Thursday, September 7 and Friday, September 8.
