    Maryland Hall for the Creative Arts is seeking artists to submit
    proposals for the Visiting AIR program, a new addition to our existing
    AIR program. The Visiting AIR program will consist of a residency
    taking place in a one to three month time period. Artists creating
    original work in any media, including visual, performing, and the
    language arts who live in New Jersey, New York, and Pennsylvania are
    eligible to apply. MHCA provides the accepted artist with
    administrative support, studio space at MHCA, housing, stipend,
    reasonable travel expenses to and from MHCA, and materials fee. Artists
    provide their own food and transportation while in Annapolis.

    The Foundation awards a limited number of fellowships each year for
    independent projects in fields selected on a rotational basis.
    Approximately ten fellowships will be offered for the 2007-2008
    fellowship year to support persons engaged in independent projects in
    the following fields: Visual Arts, Media Studies, and the History of
    Art and Architecture. Stipends for one year (normally) are $25,000.
    There are no residency requirements.

    THIRD WAVE SCHOLARSHIPS FOR YOUNG WOMEN

    Available to all full-time or part-time students age 30 and under who
    are enrolled in, or have been accepted to, an accredited university,
    college or community college. The primary criterion for funding is
    financial need. Students should also be involved as activists, artists,
    or cultural workers working on issues such as racism,
    homophobia, sexism, or other forms of inequality. The amount of each
    scholarship is decided after careful review of the student's financial
    aid report. The number of scholarships awarded depends on the amount of
    each award. Scholarships range in amount from $1,000 to $5,000 each,
    and we award scholarships in two cycles: fall and
    spring. Deadlines: April 1 for Fall cycle, October 1 for Spring cycle.

    THE TALLER PORTOBELO STARVING ARTIST FELLOWSHIP

    The Taller Portobelo Starving Artist Fellowship Program provides a
    limited amount of funds for artist needing assistance. Those interested
    in applying should provide a resume, 1-page statement of need, 10
    slides/CD with 10 images or website address with images of recent works
    for visual artists or 5 writing samples for creative
    writers. In addition, recipients of the Taller Portobelo Starving
    Artist Fellowship are required to teach a one-day workshop in their
    given area of expertise for the students of the children of Portobelo
    and Spelman College Summer Art Colony.

    novel, short story, poetry, children's literature, graphic novel and
    literary nonfiction. Creation grant amounts offered are from $3,000 to
    $20,000.

    WOODROW WILSON FELLOWSHIPS

    The Woodrow Wilson International Center for Scholars awards
    approximately 20-25 residential fellowships annually to individuals
    with outstanding project proposals in a broad range of the social
    sciences and humanities on national and/or international issues. Topics
    and scholarship should relate to key public policy challenges or
    provide the historical and/or cultural framework to illumine policy
    issues of contemporary importance. Stipends provided in recent years
    have ranged from $26,000 to $85,000 (the maximum possible in
    2007–2008). Stipends include round trip travel for fellows. Deadline
    October 2, 2006.

    The Fund for Creative Communities is designed to augment the financial
    resources of primarily small to midsize non-profit, community based
    organizations that provide high quality local arts programs. The Fund
    also seeks to increase access to arts and cultural activities in
    neighborhoods throughout the borough and to stimulate new arts
    activities in communities where the need exists. Grants, for up to
    $5,000, are awarded to non-profit organizations and to artists applying
    through a fiscal sponsor. Deadline October 10, 2006.
