Unity Card Focuses on Building Black Spending Power

New York City - Mar 16, 2006 Historically, less than five percent of the money made in the black community is spent in the black community. Unity Card's aim is to help black-owned businesses get a bigger piece of the nearly $700 billion in annual spending done by people of African descent. A major goal of the UNITY Discount Card Program is to encourage consumers to shop and save money at businesses owned by people of African descent, which helps these businesses to increase profits.

For only $20 a year cardholders get exclusive discounts at participating black-owned businesses and its national partners. Membership also includes a one-year subscription to Black Enterprise. Cards can be purchased by mail by money order or cashier's check or online at
    www.theunitycard.com.

"Leverage is the key to success in business and life. The UNITY Card offers you leverage to find the best products and services and support our community. I encourage you to sign up today," says Andrew Morrison, President of Small Business Camp.

Local businesses that honor the UNITY Card get quality marketing and advertising services for free on http://www.theunitycard.com All that is required is that the business offers an exclusive discount of at least 10% to UNITY cardholders. As a result, entrepreneurs will spend less time and money on marketing and more time making money. This will help local black entrepreneurs get a bigger share of the revenues from their local communities. Businesses can sign up at Unity Card.

The program is currently in the New York, Philadelphia, Washington, D.C. and Atlanta areas. It will expand into the following areas in the near future: Birmingham, AL, Chicago, Cleveland and Los Angeles. Unity Card is currently seeking Account Executives in these areas to encourage black-owned businesses to support the program.
